Pictures of Home

26 x 15 mins. documentary magazine

Germany is a country of immigration. The current figures published by the Federal Statistical Agency clearly show that meanwhile every fifth German has a migration background. A new portrait series entitled “Pictures of Home” covers this topic. Its aim is to overcome lingering reservations towards unknown cultures. The presenters Fatima Geza Abdollahyan and Karnik Gregorian – both with migration backgrounds themselves – in 26 episodes meet up with people that tell exciting stories relating to the topic of “successful integration”. How did the Turkish-born Chairman of the mosque acquire his little garden patch in that most German of institutions, the Schrebergarten? How do little patients react to the pediatrician of Nigerian descent? The new portrait-series was broadcasted on a weekly basis from April 4th 2010 at 8 p.m. on the channel BR-alpha.
